Hearing protection
Hearing protection comes in two forms: earplugs sit in the ear canal, earmuffs sit over the ear. Which one suits you depends on how loud it is, how long you wear it and who wears it.
Earplugs or earmuffs?
Earplugs are small, light and fit in any pocket. With a filter, speech and music stay clear, for example Strong+ (SNR 23 dB) in everyday life or Music+ (SNR 18 dB) at concerts. Earmuffs go on and off in seconds and you can see at a glance whether they fit. That makes them the first choice for babies, children and loud work.
How much attenuation do you need?
The SNR value tells you by how many decibels hearing protection reduces sound on average. For sleeping or an open-plan office, 20 to 27 dB is usually enough. At concerts, balanced sound matters. For lawn mowers, chainsaws or New Year's fireworks, more attenuation makes sense. Our strongest hearing protection is Work+ with SNR 33 dB.

Frequently asked questions
What does SNR mean?
SNR stands for Single Number Rating. It is measured in the lab according to EN 352 and states the average attenuation in decibels.
From how many decibels do I need hearing protection?
At work, hearing protection is required from 85 dB. In your free time, at concerts or on New Year's Eve, these levels are quickly exceeded too.
Is the hearing protection reusable?
Yes. All SCHALLWERK models are reusable and can be cleaned.
